I draw these comics on the train in the morning before work.
Please note that there are more than just the strips on this page. At the bottom of the page there is a 'go earlier' link that leads to further strips... a lot of people don't spot it... ;)
I am also a member of the Transplant Comics community.
The strip updates every once in a while, so please check back. Alternatively there's an RSS feed for the page kicking around, so I can come to you if you prefer!

Fat Chunk Volume 2 Out Now!
Jun. 19th, 2009 | 02:10 pm
Hurrah! The latest fat chunk is out now! I have two (count them, TWO!) pages in this edition, which is stuffed full of primo-quality Zombie action. You can find out more about the whole endeavour here:
http://www.fatchunkcomic.com/
You can buy it from all sorts of independent suppliers, but if you fancy supporting the poor big businesses out there, here's some Amazon links. ;-)
Amazon US:
http://www.amazon.com/Fat-Chunk-Zom
Amazon UK:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fat-Chunk-Zombi
And here's another sneaky peak for those who need further tempting...

Many thanks again to Monsieur Jamie Smart! WHO DA MAN? HE DA MAN!
I know I know... the less said about the state of The Elsewhere at the moment, the better I reckon... I'll post again when I actually have something to show, rather than make empty promises which I can't keep. Apologies. Cheerio!

Fat Chunk Volume 2
Apr. 14th, 2009 | 09:59 am
Wunderkind and all round awesome God-Head Jamie Smart has given me two pages in the next volume of his Fat Chunk series! After a rather frantic turnaround, i've submitted my strip, which for this volume is about Zombies. Regular readers of the Elsewhere will know I have a certain admiration for the walking undead, so this is their 3rd appearance in my world.
It would be incredibly remiss of me if I didn't also mention my silent writing partner, and personal Bernie Taupin, Paul Reeve. He came up with the original idea for this which I then ran with. So full respeck and props to him. Here's a wee sample of the strip, but you'll have to buy the book in June when it comes out to see the full thing. ;-)

And once again... thank you Paulie and Jamie!
I'm halfway through another Elsewhere at the moment, so that'll be up soon...
Cheerio!

Happy Valentines Day!
Feb. 14th, 2009 | 01:50 pm
In a thinly veiled attempt to string out my readership while I try and actually do something new and productive, here's a flimsy nod to the current seasonal event. This is my Robot themed strip for Jamie Smart's Fat Chunk book. I thought those who hadn't bought the book might like to see it. It is love related, so will therefore suit my purposes nicely.... :-)
See you soon?

(Apologies to Jamie for giving material away for free that would otherwise help make him a penny or two. I owe you a couple of pizzas, Jamie)

Merry Crimbo!

This is a Christmas card I did for my friend's company, which promotes Dairy products. It's somewhat significant in the fact that it was the first time i'd put pen to paper in a little over six months...
For shame.
I'm going to be working on my strips and my site next week, so balls are rolling.
Have a great Christmas, everyone! And a Happy New Year, i'll see y'all in 2009!

Slowly... very slowly...
Dec. 15th, 2008 | 09:24 am
..the wheels of the Elsewhere machine are clunking back into life. So very many apologies for the incredibly long absence, sorry sorry sorry...
I have a new strip under way and plenty of ideas for more that I like and actually want to do after that. I also have a Christmas card I did for a friend, which I'm adapting for a Christmas Day strip. I've also got a mate to help me out with a site, and I think 2009 is the year I get back on my feet. 2008 sucked the big one, so I fully intend to make the most of next year...
Thanks for your patience everyone. Sorry it was such a lame duck of a year for this strip.
See y'all again soon!
Steve

Hurrah! Fat Chunk is now available! Yes... my very first appearance in a proper printed sold-in-shops book is now ready to buy! About fifty billion thanks, and a crushing platonic man-hug to my old friend and all round great man Jamie Smart for getting me involved in the book in the first place, I owe him much beer. If you don't know what i'm blathering on about, then see further down this page for more details. Suffice to say, though, it's AWESOME.

Guest Strip Project
Apr. 11th, 2008 | 10:08 am
My entry into Michael Rouse-Deane's Guest Strip Project has gone live today. Many thanks to him for getting me involved. I urge you all to go over to his site, view the strips so far, and preferably donate some money to a good cause. :)

Shouts outs and learned lessons
Apr. 1st, 2008 | 09:55 am
So firstly, I thought I would give a mention to Mr. Charity himself, Michael Rouse-Deane. He's the philanthropic genius who dreamed up and put me in that Charity book last year, and he's now embarking on a year long 'Guest Strip Project', also for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. There will be two strips a week based around a continuing set of characters, and each strip is drawn by a different artist. Mine is appearing next week, I believe, but it kicked off today, so I thought I'd give you all good notice to go on over and show support for this project:

Also, those of you keeping in touch with the UK music scene may well have heard of a band called 'Does It Offend You, Yeah?'. Well about a year or so ago, the band's management contacted me and asked me to come up with a logo for them. I did a couple of ideas, but when they requested more changes, I just didn't have the time to do anymore, and had to let it slide. Boy, do I feel stupid now. Their damn logo stares out at me from every HMV, Fopp and Virgin (sorry 'Zavvi') store in the land right now, making me seethe with self-annoyance.
For the purposes of posterity, here's what I came up with at the time, so I guess you can tell why they didn't make the grade. Ho hum... another lesson is learned. When the next unwieldly titled band gets in touch, i'll pay more attention...

As the cartoons have been so slow to appear recently, I thought i'd share with you all what i've been doing beyond The Elsewhere. It's been a busy couple of months, and i've been drawing cartoons for a variety of different projects.
I've done another strip for the webcomic philanthropist, Mr. Rouse-Deane. That'll be appearing in April, and i'll post it up here when he puts it up on his site. I've also completed doing the cartoons for an online game for Philips Shavers. They sponsor the ATT Williams F1 team, so the company I work for has produced their website, and provided game to play as competitions. That should be going live soon, so i'll post that up later.
But for now, the big marquee tent pole attraction is the wonderful site for British Heart Foundation. As many may well know, i'm a webdesigner by trade and a cartoonist by hobbyist. So I was very heavily involved in the creation of this site. I created all the characters (besides Sick Rick, the purple suit angry faced thing) and several of the buildings, which were then handed over to 3D Designers, and then animated in the environment. It's been great seeing my doodles brought stumbling into life, and one I hope I get another chance to do. So far the site's been featured in countless magazines, including Creative Review, and bizarrely enough Hello (a career high, obviously). It's also one a few awards, including Site of the Month in Web Designer Magazine, not least FWA Site Of The Day. Needless to say i'm dead chuffed.
Check it out here: http://food4thought.bhf.org.uk/

Tag onto that, my upcoming appearance in the legendary Jamie Smart's 'Fatchunk Vol.1' and 2008 seems to be squaring up nicely. Now all I need to do is pull my thumb out my butt and start getting cartoons for your enjoyment and perusal. Should be one coming your way in the next day or two.
Cheerio!
